Production Intern Walead Beshty Studio (Los Angeles CA)
Walead Beshty Studio currently seeks two Production Interns to work alongside the studio staff. These positions will provide a wealth of hands-on experience in an active artist’s studio to someone interested in pursuing a career in the arts.
Interns will assist in the development and production of new works, including design and layout, printing, woodworking, mold-making, and other forms of fabrication. Interns will also be assigned long-term, ongoing projects related to studio maintenance, digital and physical inventory management and database upkeep. Interns will be called on to handle day to day needs, including art handling, general research, and running errands.
The production interns will report directly to the Production Manager and Studio Manager respectively.
The ideal candidates should possess a working knowledge of arts production, and some strengths or skills in particular areas. Applicants should be able to work independently, recognize problems as they arise, ask questions and pay close attention to details, and communicate clearly when working with others.
Experience with darkroom photography, Photoshop and image retouching, Filemaker Pro or other database software, inkjet printing, art handling, and possession of a valid driver’s license are all preferred but not required. All applicants should be comfortable working on Mac computers, working with their hands, and handling multiple projects over the course of a day.
Interns will work at least one day a week, Monday through Friday 10am - 6pm, and more days if desired. Internships last a minimum of three months. These positions are unpaid, though college credit can be arranged. This is an ideal opportunity for someone pursuing a BA or MA in Fine Arts.
